1st Grade: Manly drew with Eastwood 19-19 at Manly Oval on Saturday.

The Blues were down 12-7 at halftime but courageously fought back in the second half.

 

"We conceded so many penalties, it killed us," Coach Damien Cummins lamented.

 

He also added: "All in all it was a great effort."

 

BJ Hartman received man-of-the-match for an all round outstanding performance on the wing.

 

There are no finals for firsts this season but the boys are pumped and ready to face Warringah this weekend in the local derby clash at Manly Oval.

 

2nd Grade: Manly defeated Eastwood 19-11.

 

It was tight at halftime with Manly leading 12-11 after a poor performance in the first half.

 

But after a stern talking to in the sheds the "Blitzing Blues" came out and put it together.

 

"After no commitment in the first half, we came out and played as a spirited team," stated coach Mick Saunders.

 

Alex Pickering scored a great try from the breakdown in the second half to put the game out of reach.

 

The Marlins are looking forward to a tough encounter against local rivals Warringah this coming week.

  

3rd Grade: In the earlier game Manly dominated Eastwood 45-7.

 

The game never looked in doubt with Manly leading 28-0 at the halftime break.

 

"We dominated most of the game and the players that don’t usually get a run got one so that was great," proud coach Stu Wilson said.

 

John Fiake was a stand out with an amazing five- try haul. Eastwood just could not contain the outside centre.

 

Fullback Clarke Dean scotred a hat-trick to complete a solid game.

 

The finals-bound Marlins suffered no injuries.
