COLTS - Norths take the points
BY ALEX GRAVES
A disappointing result for Manly Colts with all three grades going down to Northern Suburbs last Saturday.
Making the outcome hard to swallow is that all three teams had chances to win their games but it was the Shoreman who stood up when the results were in the balance.
First grade Colts lost 28-3, continuing their up and down start to this year’s competition. Down 11-3 at the break the men in blue had their chances in the second half but were wasteful when the line was within reach.
Best for the Marlins were flanker James Kingston and winger James Arnold.
In Second’s Manly went down 8-7, in what was a pulsating affair right up to the final whistle.
Following a 0 all half time scoreline the Marlins took a 7-3 lead midway through the second half thanks to a try to fullback Jack Meakins.
Unfortunately the men from the beaches weren’t able to hold onto the lead and Norths went over late to take a one point win.
Oli Walliker and Alex Houston were standouts for Manly.
In Third’s a Norths length of the field intercept turned the game which was delicately poised at 5 all midway through the second half. The men in red and black then ran away with the win late to take the points 22-5.
In another one that got away Spencer Deck and Jack Rollins were nominated as the best for the losing side.
Next week Manly host Penrith in First’s and Second’s while Third’s have the weekend off.
