President- Anthony Bergelin

Anthony has a long and rich association with the Manly Rugby Football Club. He is the eldest son of former club great Bernie Bergelin and he has personally amassed over 200 grade matches for the Marlins. Anthony is determined to set a clear vision for the club during his tenure, with a strong emphasis on building relations within the Manly community and the Junior Clubs in the Manly District. He is eager to ensure the Marlins are in a position to make a challenge for the Club Championship and he will look to the clubs ladder position as a key indicator of our on-field success. Away from Rugby, Anthony is the Director and Licensee In Charge of his family run Real Estate agency in Manly, Bergelin Estate Agents.

Vice President - Morgan Lane

The son of a life member of the club, Morgan has been involved in the Club for over 30 years starting out as a ball-boy, then playing juniors, colts and grade. Over the more recent years he has coached a variety of local junior and colts teams at Manly. His role is to support the President in the Club’s endeavours, work with the Club Captain and playing groups, and drive the Club’s culture and ethos for the benefit of the players, supporters and the local community. Away from the field, Morgan is a partner at Carneys Lawyers with over a decade of corporate advisory experience.

Company Secretary - Lisa Matthews

Having worked as the General Manger for Manly Rugby Club from 2014-2016 and for the Athletics Federation in the UK during the lead up to the 2012 Olmpic Games, Lisa brings experience from a sports administration background which she hopes will add value within her role as secretary, by fostering and promoting efficiency and professionalism across all areas of the club.

Assistant Company Secretary - Daniel Boland

Danny arrived in Manly in 2007 from Dublin where he played his football primarily at levels most kindly described as “social rugby” for University College Dublin RFC. He joined the Marlins upon arriving on the famous Little Manly beach and has rarely left the peninsula since, aside from Marlins away games and occasional cultural trips to Irelands 33rd county, Bondi Junction. He captained 4th Grade to a crushing Grand Final loss in 2012, was the Club Captain in 2013 and will be togging out again for the Marlins in 2016 in an attempt to reach a milestone of 150 grade games for the Marlins. Danny is responsible for Marlins engagement with the Community, including through the Marlins Website and social media, and with local organisations. Off the field he is the Deputy General Counsel for Vodafone Hutchison Australia.

Assistant Treasurer - Claire Martin

Claire grew up supporting her brother’s rugby teams over the years in roles including team touch judge, team manager and director of Sydney Harlequins. Her role is to assist the treasurer and manage membership with an aim to increase engagement with the community. Claire is a prominent Property Lawyer who embraces technology and sits on the Property Law Committees of the Law Society and Young Lawyers’.

Board Member - Sean Richardson

Sean’s pathway to the Manly Marlins has come through 14 years as part of Junior Rugby within the Manly District. Sean’s core role is developing and maintaining the pathway of junior rugby players transitioning to the Manly Colts program and then on to Manly Grade. Development includes both skills & education for players and a coaching pathway for the betterment of the Manly District and toward representative appointments. Succession planning is an imprtant activity of this role.

Board Member - Adam Hill

Adam’s family has been involved with the Manly Rugby Club for the past 70 years. Having played around 130 grade games for the club during the 1980’s, Adam has also coached and managed various second and third grade sides over the years. His role is to improve the “match day experience” for our loyal Marlin’s supporters at the Village Green. The key areas to be improved will centre around food and beverage options, as well as service. Adam is also a co-director of “Adam Hill Designs P/L”, a company that has been designing and wholesaling souvenir clothing for the Australian tourist market since 1985.

Board Member - David Campbell

David has been a resident of the Manly area for close to 50 years and has been a long term supporter of the Marlins. For the lest three years he has sponsored the club though his company, currency manager Hunter Burton Capital. David brings over 30 years experience in the corporate world to his role as Director responsible for club sponsorships and aims to ensure all sponsors positively engage with the club through their association, receiving maximum return on investment for their support of the club.     

Board Member - Ian Miller

Ian played Colts and Grade with the Marlins from 1978 to 1988. In that time he won 3 grade premierships, including the first grade victory in 1983. He also represented NSW Waratahs and Sydney. He remained actively involved with the club and coached 1st and 2nd grade teams from 1999 – 2004, including a reserve grade premiership in 2000. He managed 2nd grade last season and this year is the manager of the Marlins 1st grade team under Brian Melrose.  He joins the Board this year after a successful career in Finance including 20 years at Macquarie Bank.

Board Member - Simon Herbert

Simon is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a non-executive director who specialises in Board Governance and Performance. Simon has been the a member of Manly Rugby for the last 5 years and is brother to Tim Herbert, a previous 1st Team Captain for Manly.
