A message from Cameron Douglas regarding 2022 Manly 1st grade Coach

Dear Marlins family,
I hope this letter finds you well in these difficult times.
I wanted to write to tell you of some exciting developments at the Marlins.
Strategically we have decided as a Club that the development of players through our Manly Juniors and Colt’s pathway provides the most sustainable pipeline of talent coming into the senior club but the commitment is a long-term one! Players need time to develop with the instruction of professional coaches and first-class facilities.
We have made the commitment to put in place the coaching team and we are committed, with the support of the Manly Rugby Foundation, to provide the facilities.
Our vision is to develop a Marlins hub, with gym, offices and rehab facilities in one location that can be accessed by all of our players from Juniors through to our First Grade Marlins and Mermaids players to allow them to prepare so they can perform at their best on the paddock.
We will keep you informed as this develops but it is an exciting future ahead.
Further to my comments earlier about a professional program, I am delighted to announce that we have appointed a new Head Coach for 2022 and beyond who will be in charge of delivering this program. That coach is Phil Blake!
Phil is already busy building the team that will support him and I look forward to making further announcements as these appointments are confirmed.
To achieve substantial change in our performance on the field we sometimes need to make real changes to the way we have been doing things. Often these changes are not easy to make but I am certain that without making the hard decisions we won’t see the change in performance that we are looking to achieve.
I look forward to seeing you all down at Manly Oval in 2022 and let’s hope we will have returned to some semblance of normality by then.
Keep safe and healthy,
Cameron Douglas
President
