Marlins Fillets Interview With New GM – Greg Marr

Greg Marr, the new general manager of Manly Rugby, gave an interview to Marlins Fillets discussing his rugby background, his return to the club, and his plans for its future. Marr, who started his rugby career under legendary coach Barry “Tizza” Taylor, spent nine years away from Manly Oval, including a 10-year stint with the Rats where he also served as general manager.

Encouraged by club president Matt Curll, he returned to Manly Oval due to his ongoing love for the team and in view of Curll’s aspirational vision for the club. Despite the demanding nature of the job, Marr is excited about managing the various aspects of the club including player and coaching teams, supporters, members, and sponsors.

Marr highlights the importance of gate takings and sponsorships in maintaining the operations of the club. Regarding the state of the team, Marr praises the coaching prowess of Chris Delooze while expressing his intention to assist in taking care of off-field matters. Highlighting the exciting times ahead for the club’s women’s program, Marr calls for increased support from the Marlins/Mermaids community in making the 2024 season successful.
